up and down times

Things have been really up and down lately. Just when things seem to be smoothing out at work, they go bad again. Last weekend I think I was at my lowest point, but maybe it's getting better now. I really thought about quitting, but what would I do? I just hope with time it'll all come together.
My peppers and tomatoes are doing okay, and I picked some okra yesterday, but my squash plants are all dying. I don't know what's wrong.
Next week I'm spending 5 days down by St. Louis at the North American Science Fiction Convention. I need it a lot, I'm going whatever happens.
The people in Inali have been wonderful through all this, it would have been hard without them. I'm lucky to have them.

rough times at work

I haven't put anything up for a while, I've been worn out from work. The last couple of weeks have been horrible. Everything has gone wrong, it's just been one thing after another. We can't even get one thing fixed when something else goes bad. I come home absolutely wrung out. Things have got to calm down, more has gone wrong in the last few months, since I took over, than the last couple of years!
In a few weeks I'm planning to take a few days off and go to the North American Science Fiction Convention in St. Louis. I sure hope I can go, I'll go crazy if I can't.

A nice walk

Things at work just seem to be one crisis after another, last weekend I just had to get away. I'm not sure why I thought of this, but saturday I hiked all the way around Argyle Lake state park on the trails. It took about three hours, with a stop for some summer sausage and a few water stops, it really wore me out, but it was worth it. It turns out that because the storms a couple of weeks ago knocked a lot of trees down over the road, the entire back half of the park was blocked to traffic. And because so few people actually hike these days, I didn't meet a single person on the trail the whole time. In fact, I had the whole back part of the park completely to myself.
I scared up a half dozen deer, small animals galore, a huge, beautiful owl, and I think a red fox.
I needed this bad, this week so far has been a series of problems at work. When will it let up!
