been out of things

I haven't posted much lately, the holiday preoccupied me, then I got sick. I'll get stuff up more.
The first big winter storm seems to be moving in, they say maybe 10 or 12 inches of snow tonight, then down into single digits over the weekend. I knew last week was too good to be true.
The inali dancers just had to cancel a performance for tonight because of the forecast, and it's not even december yet.
I finally broke down and got DSL, wow what a difference, it should make it easier to get posts up for both blogs.

Quiet around town

It sure gets quiet and peaceful around my town when the college kids are gone for a holiday week. Almost half the population could be gone, and the partying and loud traffic dies down. It never lasts, though.
I know they're just being young people, and they are our future and all that, but sometimes their behavior is just inexcusable. The trouble is, the local authorities never seem to try to control things. The university runs the town and everyone knows it.
It's hard to be charitable when you're picking empty beer cans out of your yard.

kids today

I was just at my twin brothers, he works hard for a living like me, and his son, who's 22, has a job but still lives with his father, asked him for "a few dollars for the night".
I see this more and more. so many young people just don't seem to want to work.
Oh well, maybe I'm an old fogie.
But I see the young man who helps Eli Warrior, sits next to him on the drum, helps him around, I don't know his relation, but it gives me hope.

winter's coming

It seems to have turned colder for good now, I guess winter is on the way. That's okay, I'm looking forward to hitting the ski slopes. It looks like I'm going to Steamboat Springs, Colorado for a week in february. I haven't been there for years, but I hear they've added some things. It's a little pricier than some places I go, but sometimes you got to splurge on yourself (and it sure ain't Aspen or Vail).
At drum practice last night it sure seemed like we screwed up a lot of songs. I guess sometimes any group just has an off day, but I sure hope we're on in january at Hamilton, we're the only drum there.

got stopped for nothing

As I left drum practice last night, I got pulled over by a cop, for no reason I knew.It turns out the light on my rear licence plate was burned out.
So I spent all afternoon today fixing it.
Come on!

what a week

Well, I hope I'll get back up on a regular basis soon, I've had some family problems I don't want to talk about now.
Man, a great time at the White Bear hethuska. I got chosen as water carrier, a great honor. I don't know why Byron, the Nudohonga, chose me, but it was great.
We did a set of old fashioned Oklahoma shake songs, I bet most people there never saw that before!
I got a great Pendleton blanket, I did everthing OK.
The elections were, well, amazing. We,ll see if they make any difference.

headed up to white bear

I'm headed up to the White Bear war dance tomorrow, gonna do some of that good old southern man dance stuff. Eli Warrior is head singer, what more can you ask.
Considering the bad news I just got (it's about a family member, I can't say more right now, you'll get it later) I really need this.
Sometimes life just kind of gangs up on you.

losing a powwow

I just heard that it's official, the powwow in New Windsor, Il. is gone. The people running it just couldn't get enough help, so they called it quits. If this keeps up there won't be any small, local powwows left. I would be willing to help, but everyone wants me as a dressed dancer. There just aren't that many full regalia dancers around, especially men. I really can't do both.
I really hate to see this one go.
