my garden grows

I expanded my garden, I put in some more tomatoes, some broccoli, and some squash. I've never tried squash or broccoli, but hopefully they'll turn out okay. Everything else but the potatoes seem to be doing okay, I've got to find out what I'm doing wrong with potatoes.
I,m slowly getting the hang of my knew job, now I just have to hope they offer it to me permanently. After all this work and pain, I wouldn't be happy if they gave it to someone else.

garden time

I got my garden in, or most of it. A lot of tomatoes, of course, plus chili peppers, some okra, and a few potatoes. I've never tried okra before, but I love it, so I hope it grows all right. As for potatoes, I've tried before and never had a lot of luck. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I'll keep trying. I may put a few more things in, I have my own tiller now so I can expand easily. Now we just need a little rain.

chili again

I can't believe it's turned cool again now. I actually had to turn my furnace back on. Really strange weather!
We did a performance at Toulon nursing home last night, it has been a while since we did one, and it always feels great to give the elders something back. I hadn't had my regalia on for so long, I wasn't sure I remembered how to put it on. We're going to Farmington for another nursing home tomorrow. I love doing these kind of things, but with gas closing up on three and a half dollars, it could get kind of tough. I'm going to keep trying, though.

hot weather

I knew we wouldn't get any spring. It just warmed up, and now it's 90 degrees out. I turned my furnace in time to turn my air conditioning on! This weather keeps getting stranger.
I'm kind of settling into my new job, but so far it's been one crisis after another. I hope when we get a few things fixed, it'll quiet down for a while.

gas prices, again

I can't believe it, it's worse than last year. Now I hear gas could be 3.50 by Memorial Day, maybe 4.00 by the end of summer. I know I always complain, but this is going to really hurt. I don't want to give anything up, the performances, practices, powwows, my trips out west, but I just don't know anymore. I'll keep doing my best.
This is going to put a lot of average people under.

mushrooms

I've heard people have started finding mushrooms. It's the right time of year, and the weather warmed up, so I'm sure they are up. I wish I had a good place to go, but everyplace I know gets hit hard early. We used to find tons of them down by gin ridge on my mother's family's old land, but the owners told us a few years ago they didn't want us going there anymore. Hey, it should be our land! Somehow, it just doesn't seem right keeping us out. Nothing I can do, but I sure would like a nice mess of mushrooms.
By the way, the job is still a pain, but I think it's getting a little better. The city still hasn't offered me the permanent position, though.
